Goals from Rob and Tom see Real Maroon come from behind twice to earn a battling draw on a frozen pitch in Perth.

Good shift by all, well done lads.

Over to Mikey for a more detailed report...

I'll try and get to this tomorrow night, I'm too tired and hungover to attempt to write something now and I have standards to maintain. 8-)

Some quick thoughts on the game:

The pitch was diabolical. I'm sporting a fine collection of cuts and bruises today, far from ideal conditions to play on.

We took a little while to get going, partly due to getting used to the pitch, partly due to lack of match practice.

Second half was solid, good defending and I was able to keep a hold of everything thrown at me. I was the busier of the two keepers but the chances we did create looked more dangerous.

A draw was probably a fair result.

Mick's delivery at set pieces was good, Raymie battled well when he came on and Robin came onto a good game after a (by his own admission) iffy first half. Good to see Rob get off the mark for the season.

Another great team performance from everybody, good too see everyone fighting for each other, thats a game 3 months ago we would have lost having gone behind twice.

Mon the Real!

Meant to post this earlier...

PSJ 2-2 Real Maroon

Once again Real Maroon and PSJ could not be separated over 90 minutes.
A 3-3 draw in September was followed by a 2-2 draw, this time it was Real who came from behind twice to draw level. A first of the season for Rob Borthwick and a another from leading scorer Tom Evans ensured Real's recent good form continued.

The pitch was frozen and it was never going to be one for the purists, it was the hosts who coped with the conditions better in the opening exchanges and they quickly took the lead. A PSJ forward latched onto the ball in the box, hesitant defending allowed him to clip a neat chip into the corner of the net.

Real pressed for the equaliser, McGill came close with a snap shot that flew inches past the top corner. The scrappy nature of the game saw Real win several free kicks and Mick Anderson swung in a series of dangerous deliveries. The equaliser came soon after with Rob Borthwick finishing neatly from close range.

PSJ came back into the match and created some problems for the unfamiliar defensive pairing of Anderson and Hyslop. Goalkeeper Muir was on hand to scoop a header away from the bottom corner and then again the tip a low shot past the post.

As the pressure mounted PSJ took advantage of some poor defending, a forward was allowed all too much time in the box to take down a cross and pick his spot from ten yards. A stinging shot from distance was clutched by Muir and the half closed with both teams working hard.

Real began the second half in determined fashion and pressed for the equaliser, PSJ continued to look dangerous on the break. Both midfields battled against the conditions but chances were few. The Real defence firmed in the second half and PSJ rarely troubled Muir's goal.

Real grabbed an equaliser through Tom Evans, the least the away side's efforts in the second half deserved. Neither side could force a winner, Muir had to react quickly to tip a net bound shot away from the top corner and Smith cleared the danger.

The draw was a fair result, the conditions didn't allow for a flowing match by any means but both sides contested the match in good spirit and neither will feel too aggrieved at the share of the points.

The fact he's actually getting a game probably helps

The Motherwell boys beat Queens Park 14-0 at the weekend. Let's get a contact number for them!

We've played on Sunday before, we won 11-1 that day.

I'm sure we could get a squad together for a Sunday.
